The virginity pledge focus on PIV sex overlooks the reality of queer Christians, and the wording of the pledges has gotten progressively more heteronormative and political over the years. The emphasis on marriage as a sexual and emotional cure-all ignores the fact that many couples (especially Protestant Christians, who are the main target groups for virginity pledges) wind up getting divorced, and left in limbo vis-a-vis the sexual ethics they’ve been brought up with.  Perhaps you should save your virginity for your second marriage?
