A million years ago when I was really uncomfortable with the idea of being a submissive, and with BDSM in general, I remember finding a short essay somewhere on the internet.  It was by an M/f couple, and she was pregnant, and they were talking about how they had adapted their usual whips-and-chains routine to deal with her pregnancy (which they were being supercareful about…I think they had banned spanking, even).  I remember reading that essay was one of the first times I thought: O, kinky people can get together and be thoughtful, nice human beings.  It was very eye-opening.
